CHRISTOPHER REDLINE
animator | storyboard artist | visual effects
Chris was born in Berwick, Pennsylvania, a small town known primarily for potato chips, gift ribbon and its high school football team. Random doodling scrawled on 11th-grade bookcovers (mostly of heavy metal band album covers) revealed an innate ability to draw, if not copy, whatever he saw. On graduating from high school, Chris set his sights on college and the Army National Guard.
After a year at Penn State, Chris made the decision to transfer to a local community college to pursue Commercial Art (a path not available at his current school). Then, in 1993, he discovered his innermost passion: animation. Watching a Japanese Anime marathon on The Sci-Fi Channel reawakened, literally, thoughts, feelings and emotions Chris knew from childhood, but did not fully realize, until this moment. Animation was a medium through which mature, intelligent storytelling might be created. Thusly, in the fall of 1996 and, after being honorably discharged from the Army, Chris began on his "real" journey.
That journey has had its challenges. But it is, by no means, over. After a brief career as a web developer (something he vehemently swore he would never do, yet, ended up falling in love with), a layoff, becoming a father and, finally, ending up at his current full-time job, Chris resumed discovering, and pursuing, something he thought he'd never get the chance to do again. In 2013, he finally started down the road towards earning his bachelor degree in Media Arts & Animation via online courses at the Art Institutes Online.
Chris lives with his wife and son in Nescopeck, PA and is on course to graduate in January 2017. Eventually, he plans on opening his own animation studio, where his team will produce independent and client work through a wide range of media such as television, Internet and theatrical.
